The thing about Mac

I cannot say often enough how huge a Mac fan I am.

Countless of people have attributed the success of the mighty apple to brilliant marketing strategy and branding. The fan base across the entire globle is so incredible that it warrants a name, “The Cult of Mac“. True enough, Apple’s marketing strategies and branding play significant roles in its success story but however, they are but a part of the many factors why people want to be involved in the Macintosh lifestyle.

The thing about Mac… is that it holds true the essence of beauty in simplicity. Put aside the rock-solid operating system and the incredible Mac user experience, all Macintosh products are inarguably sights to behold, from the industrial workhorse Mac Pro right down to the household name iPod. These are fruits of labour, crafted and designed by award-winning Apple Industrial Design Team. With that, how can any decent Mac fan not mention Jonathan Ive in the same breath?

Does it all stop there? Amazingly, No.

The impressive bit is that the cohesive experience does not end at the Apple-owned hardware and software, it is felt even through the third party accessories and software. Apple even published guidelines to help software developers understand the methodology behind their approach to user experience to ensure its continuity. Seriously, even the websites for these software look pretty. Here’s a few examples of these lovely eye candies: Twisted Melon, Delicious Library and AppZapper. Hell, why stop there, let Phill Ryu share with you his list of the top ten most beautiful OS X Apps.

Despite reading all these, nothing will beat the true experience of owning a Mac and feeling the Mac experience yourself. See, feel and use it to believe.
