iMac. Faster, bigger, brighter.

The word is out. Apple has just introduced a 24-inch iMac.

The 24-inch iMac is 1 inch bigger (diagonally) than the 23-inch Cinema Display, running a resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels, a whooping 30% more screen real estate over its smaller 20-inch sibling.

The iMac now packs a meaner punch with the new Merom chip, a.ka. the 64-bit Intel Core 2 Duo processor that comes with a 4 MB L2 cache. The new iMac also comes with a new graphics card, NVIDIA 7300 GT graphics processor. This chip is much faster that the previous X1600 in the earlier systems.

All in all, this new additional now fills the gap between the 20-inch iMac and the recently released Mac Pro.
