Apple Showtime!

Apple may have just released the 24-inch iMac but that is not stopping them from announcing a series of new iPod products.

Steve Jobs introduced the new iPod, iPod nano and iPod shuffle at the Apple’s “It’s showtime!’ event. All upgrades to the iPod products are in various forms, consisting of brighter screens, longer battery life, bigger capacity and even a change in the form factor. The nano and the shuffle took a new slimmer shape.

Last but not least, now you get to play popular games like Bejeweled, Pac-Man and Tetris on your iPod! All iPod games are available at the iTunes Store and can be purchased and downloaded at US$4.99 each. Just download, sync with your iTunes and the games are locked and loaded.

On top of all these, Apple also managed to slip in an upgrade to the iTunes, giving more punch to the feature-packed software. Those hardworking iPod owners who have been meticulously collecting album art for every single song will be delighted to know of this newly added feature, Cover Flow. It enables you to flip through your song collection quickly by the album covers. Well… like they say, a picture speaks a thousand words.

This is not even the end of it. Macworld News reported in their live coverage of the event that Apple added movies to the iTunes Store. The service launches with more than 75 films from Disney, Pixar, Miramax and Touchstone. Very soon you can watch Captain Jack Sparrow do his thing in the Pirates of The Caribbean 2 on your very own iPod.

Did Steve Job just mention iTV? Yes! Apparently it is a sneak peek for a Q1 2007 product and iTV is just a project codename rather than an actual product name. Hook the iTV to your big flat LCD and watch the video as it streams through your wireless network.

And yes, you can stop holding your breath now.

I honestly did’nt realise an MP3 player could be used to play games. Something new you learn everyday.
