Apple reveals goodies!
Just when you thought it is all quiet on the Apple side after the announcement on the iPhone sales date, Apple dishes out a couple of updates.
I have always loved the Apple website for its clean design and attention to usability. For a while, there were a couple of little improvements made across the site using AJAX, mostly very subtle and would probably go unnoticed.
Today, Apple decides to unveil the revamp on their site and now it comes with a new look along with a full suite of bells and whistles. A brand new navigation bar, a complete overhaul on the Apple product page, improved sidebars across the whole site, no more ugly table tags for layout…
For a site of this size, it is a tremendous effort to ditch the conventional way of using tables for layout and adopting the compliant approach. It is a huge step for Apple and big endorsement for the adoption of web standards. The site may not be XHTML compliant but it definitely abides by the idealogy of separating content from visual presentation.
Evidentally brilliant use of script.aculo.us to achieve the fancy user interaction and feedback. Once again they have never failed to deliver the clean and gorgeous feel to it. I am so loving it, these people made the HTML pages look and feel sexy yet again!
The goodies do not stop at the revamp, Apple has also released an upgraded version of its fabled web browser, Safari 3 Public Beta. Here is the real sweet deal, Safari 3 is now apparently available on the Windows operating system as well. For once, the folks on Windows will be able to savour the sweetness of Safari. Do take note that as like all betas, some things will not work as desired.
Go knock yourselves out!
